It’s been so long since I’ve sat down to write anything. Life just gets in the way and we manage to put off doing the things we actually want to do. Regardless, things have been more or less the same as before. I haven’t spent much time playing video games the past few months. Although there are tons of games that have come out that I really would like to play, finding the time and energy to get into them has been the biggest issue for me. In May I found myself starting a new save file for Stardew Valley. In those three days I put in well over forty hours of playtime. I can say I really do love that game. It is such a source of calm for me. Even when I am trying to do all the tasks as quickly as possible, the whole vibe of the game is relaxing. After those few days playing I have yet to get back to it. I wanted to get around to all the new content that was added since the last time I played (probably three to four years ago).

Aside from that I took up a real world sport at the end of January. Golf. A sport I never would have guessed I would take up. But after that first outing I was instantly hooked. Within the week I had my own clubs and started taking lessons. So that has taken up the majority of my time since then. I’ve obsessed over getting better but realized pretty quickly I can’t possibly “master” a new sport so quickly. Just like with Stardew Valley, I need to enjoy the journey.

It is a little disingenuous to say I have not played anything in months. The most consistent game I’ve been playing since late last year is Cookie Run Kingdom on mobile. I legitimately play the game daily. I think the simplicity of the game is what appeals to me. The “sim” aspect of it is what’s got me the most hooked. Building up your kingdom and setting up all the materials and goods are my weakness in games. There’s a PVP aspect to the game that I initially ignored but have found myself delving deeper and deeper into. The game is Free to Play but I do spend money every few weeks on what is essentially their version of a battle pass. Since it’s a mobile game I can play it just about anywhere. Usually I run an Android emulator on my computer so I can play while I work. That’s how hooked I am on this mobile game. Never did I think this is where I would end up haha.

Right now the only thing I am looking forward to is November. I can’t wait for God of War to come out. I missed the window to preorder the Collectors Editions but I never opened the previous ones I bought so it’s definitely for the best at this point. I had added some games to my cart for the big summer Steam sale and then I forgot about them and never bought them. Considering my backlog on Steam, that was also for the best.
I won’t make promises like before that I am going to post as often as I can but I’m slowly trying to figure out the best way to balance life and the things I enjoy doing. Since I don’t play games as much I feel like my scope has narrowed a bit. This won’t turn into a sports blog or anything like that. I will sprinkle in all sorts of things though. I did make a post talking about shifting focus to other things but the goal is to keep all things equally represented.
